In solidarity with the people of Burkina Faso,
We – members of social movements, progressive political parties and organizations,
personalities, citizens – salute the people of Burkina Faso with respect and admiration.
We rejoice with the people of Burkina in the fall of Blaise Compaoré.
As Burkina Faso regains its dignity, inspired by the most glorious periods of its history and by the ideals of Thomas Sankara, we maintain that Burkina Faso sets an example for all African countries and all peoples of the world struggling for sovereignty and human rights.
In solidarity with the people of Burkina Faso:
– We strongly condemn the actions of France in transporting dictator Blaise Compaoré out of the country,
– We call for an end to impunity and demand that Blaise Compaore be tried by the courts of Burkina Faso,
– We also demand that the dignitaries of Blaise Compaoré’s regime not be protected in any country and that they be brought to book in Burkina Faso.
– We demand that Blaise Compaoré be tried for his involvement in the various wars in the region, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast, which claimed tens of thousands of lives and created hundreds of thousands of victims.
– We denounce and condemn the policies of “Françafrique.”
– We demand the immediate and unconditional cancellation of the external public debt of Burkina Faso. This debt, under international law, is largely odious and illegitimate because it was contracted by a dictatorial regime for its own benefit, with the full knowledge of the creditors.
– Recalling that a request for a parliamentary inquiry into the assassination of Thomas Sankara has been tabled in the French Parliament, we ask that it be put on the agenda as soon as possible and that all the archives of that period be made accessible without restriction.
We remain mobilized with the people of Burkina Faso in its conquest of freedom, social justice and sovereignty.
